April 2025 Update: The Final Chemo, Sweet 16, and A New Chapter Begins

April 1st, 2025 — a date our family will never forget. It was the day Kendall completed her last chemotherapy treatment. 🙌🏽🎉 After months of hospital visits, infusions, medications, and unwavering strength, she rang the bell loud and proud, and it was nothing short of victorious.

🎉 Chemo Complete – Bell Rung, Picc Line Gone!

I thought I’d be a wreck when it happened. The day before, I cried non-stop just thinking about the journey. But when that bell rang, there was no time for tears—just cheering, clapping, and pure celebration. The PICC line, which had been her lifeline for four months, was also removed. Another major milestone down!

This isn’t the end of the journey, but it is the close of a major chapter—and we are walking into the next with gratitude and faith. Thank you to every single person who lifted us through it. We couldn’t have done it without our village. 💕

🎂 Sweet 16 for Our Warrior

April was also Kendall’s 16th birthday—a day we weren’t sure we’d be celebrating like this just months ago. Thank you to everyone who sent gifts, texts, cards, prayers, videos, or love in any form. It meant the world to us.

Even on her birthday, Kendall stayed committed and met with her math tutor (yes, birthday or not—school is school! 😄). The next day, she had a very special interview with WDIV Local 4 / ClickOnDetroit for National Donate Life Month. It’s now been 7 months since her heart transplant—a gift that continues to give.

And of course, no 16th birthday is complete without karaoke! We rented a private room at 168 Crab & Karaoke and sang our hearts out. It was the most laughter and joy I’ve seen in her face in a long time. Pure joy. 🥰🎤

🩻 Follow-Up Testing & Trust

This week, Kendall heads back to Ann Arbor to meet with her oncologist. She’ll be getting a CT scan and MRI—follow-up imaging to see how she’s doing now that chemo is complete. We already know she’s healed, whole, and walking in victory. 🙏🏽✝️❤️
