I have a lot to catch you up on...

I won't overload you and put everything in one post so I will let you know things in the order that they happened to get you caught up.

I am literally going to look into Kendlall's patient portal at Mott's to recall everything because it's been a month and half since my last post.

PET scan results showed the neck lymph nodes were no longer enlarged and the right side was clear. However, there was still active early stage lymphoma on the left side. Since she is not having any symptoms she is being monitored without doing any treatment at this time. Her Epstein Barr Virus levels are checked weekly. They are slightly elevated each week but not anywhere near the numbers in the past. The oncologist also said because her immunosuppresant medications have been changed, that should help decrease the activity in the lymph node.

Oct 8th Diabetes appointment. This was a 3 month follow up appointment since the insulin was discontinued. We had to put the Dexcom monitor on 1 week before the appointment so that they could see the trend in her blood sugars for that week in order to see if she needed to go back on insulin. Her numbers were good and the doctor is convinced that her blood sugars were high because of the steroids. Will have a follow up in 6 months.

October 16 ENT appointment. This appointment was to evaluate her airway, vocal cords etc..because her voice is still just above a whisper and we expected it to have gotten stronger by now. She had the exam done in the office and the Dr said he agrees with past ENT reports that she has vocal cord paralysis on one side. He said he could do an extensive corrective surgery but in his opinion it wasn't worth the risk of the vocal cords being very swollen from the surgery. Also because it takes a while for the swelling to go away(and risk of bleeding), that would put her at a higher risk for other airway problems/injuries from surgery. She is not having trouble breathing at all so we are not going to go that route. There's lots of people that have soft, low voices and this issue is not a big deal considering everything else she has been through.

In the next post I will update you on 2 more visits that were in October. One visit with the oncologist/hematologist specialist regarding the spleen. The other was a follow up visit with Oncologist.
